என் பார்வையில் மதராசப்பட்டினம் ...

Another saturday night.. Same old friends... Tens of texts,calls and hundreds of thoughts... Literally 'Vijay' & 'Mallaya' were battling hard.. Very rarely, At the end of the day a good movie will win over your draught beer. Madharasapattinam was one such! KF strong wasn't missed much..Marlboro lights after the movie were awesome !

One more period film.. Was little worried about 'Kalpathi' bros when their names were flashed on the title cards. No idea about the whereabouts of R.Ravindran now.

Movie had a very sluggish start.1945 இல் ஆரம்பிக்கிறது. ஆங்கிலேய பெண் இந்தியனை காதலிக்கும் கதை ... Chunks of Titanic and Lagaan here n there. பாட்டி கதை சொல்லும்பாணியில் தொடர்கிறது..அறுபது வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னால் தொலைத்த காதலை தேடி இந்திய வருகிறாள் .. அப்புறம் கொசுவர்த்தி சுற்றப்படுகிறது ..முதல் பாடலின் போது இந்த படத்தை ஒரு தடவைக்கு மேல் பார்க்க முடியாது என்றே தோன்றியது...Until I fell in love with the heroine inside first 30 minutes. 'Amy Jackson '. She was so cute, easily fits into the role and creeps into your heart. வாட் எ பிகர் .. வாட் எ பிகர் ..

வழக்கமான கதை தான்.. ஆர்யாவும் ஆமியும் காதல் கொள்கிறார்கள் .. எதிர்ப்பு.. இந்தியச் சுதந்திரப் பின்னணியில் பிரிகிறார்கள்.. திரும்பி வரும் பாட்டி என்ன ஆகிறாள் என்பது மீதி கதை..

ஆர்யாவுக்கு அவ்வளவாக நடிக்க வாய்ப்பில்லை.. கொடுத்த வேலையே செய்திருக்கிறார்... But whos that Granny? Not much of dialouges... Jus like that பார்வையாலேயே நடித்து விடுகிறார் ... Her eyes speaks volume...ஒரு காட்சியில் அவரது கன்னச்சதை கூட நடிக்கிறது ... Awesome is the word!

The movie heavily reminded me of my all time favorite English movie 'NoteBook' which actually made me pen down this review. Sense of humour prevails throughout the movie which makes it more interesting .. சின்னச் சின்ன வசனங்கள் , காட்சியமைப்புகள் கவர்கின்றன.. உதாரணமாக அந்த குஸ்தி சண்டையின் போது " 400 வருஷத்துக்கு அப்புறம் நாம அடிக்கிற மோத அடி" .. " விழுவது உயிரல்ல... விதை "அப்புறம் அந்த Aug 15 நள்ளிரவு காட்சியில் "Way --> Out Only" என்னும் வாசகம் ..அந்த படகுப் பிடி ..இப்படி நிறைய ... கதாபாத்திரங்கள் கூட .. அந்த Taxi driver, Painter, VMC haneefa இப்படி இன்னும் சில பேர்..udos to Vijay... இது அந்த விஜய் இல்லேங்கோ ....டைரக்டர் பேரு

ஒரு காட்சியில் "ஆமா , அங்க பொருளாதார வீழ்ச்சி ... இவங்க என்னமோ சுதந்திரம் குடுக்குற மாதிரி பேசறாங்க " என்கிறார் ஒரு Mr. பொதுஜனம் ... மெய்யாலுமா அது ஒன்னு தான் காரணமா ?? நான் வேற மாதிரில்ல எங்கயோ படிச்சேன்.. நம்ம நேரு ஏதோ லார்டு மவுன்ட்பேட்டனோட Wife a வச்சிரு...... சரி விடுங்க . பெரியவங்க நீங்க சொன்ன சரி தான் .. 1 2 3 4 5 :)

Atleast half of the crowd was drunk. ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் அடி வாங்கும் போது கத்துகிறார்கள் ..அவர்கள் நம்மை அடிக்கும் போது அசிங்கமாய் திட்டுகிறார்கள்...கதாநாயகி நம் இந்தியனுக்கு கிஸ்ஸடிக்கும் போது மட்டும் எழுந்து நின்று கை தட்டுகிறார்கள் ..

மதராசபட்டினத்தை காட்ட அவ்வளவாக சிரத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டதாக தெரியவில்லை...Graphic rules. And few sets. And that Independence day Midnight plot could have been used much better. Every thing made forgotten by the last half hour of the movie. போதை தெளிந்து அமைதியாய் இருந்தனர் நிறைய பேர் .... முரட்டுத்தனமாக குடித்திருந்த ஒரு சிலரைத் தவிர .

Such was the impact. "This is not mine" என்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டு தாலியை திரும்ப கொடுக்க வருகிறார். பரிதி திருமணமே பண்ணிக்கொள்ளவில்லை என்று தெரிய வருகிறது... துரையம்மாள் தெரு concept was nice... Trust , Orphanage, Old age home என்று சில டச்சிங் டச்சிங் ... துரையம்மாள் மின்சாரவாரியம் , ரயில் நிலையம் , Mortuary எல்லாம் வந்துவிடுமோ என்று நினைத்தேன் ... நல்லவேளை நான் பிழைத்துக்கொண்டேன் ... அனால் தமிழ் சினிமா விதிகளுக்கு உட்பட்டு She dies at the very cemetry holding the 'Thaali' saying 'Its Mine... Its Mine....'

Though this may sound comic,these final scenes were well shot which would easily make the light hearts fall in love with the movie. Particularly that scene where she sees her vintage 15 feet photo.

If I keep thinking about the movie even an hour after reaching home then it is a good one. I did. Rather we did with the late night cigarettes.Minutes later we were on a hunting spree. For none other than 'Amy Lousie Jackson'. Wikipedia helped a little..Jan 31, 1991 was THE date.. Jus 19 yrs old.. Miss Teen world 2008, Twitter,Facebook, Myspace and what not.. Then her official website. Chill ran down the spain ..Sorry Spine...( Watching final now..cant help ) and it was a rude shock. Not for me, my friend who was sitting next.
